Throughout my life many things have influenced and shaped me into the person I am today. The most prevalent force that has shaped me over the past 17 years has been my parents.I believe that being raised in a christian home and being taught what is right and wrong from and early age has truly impacted the way I act and handle myself today. Another force that has shaped me is school. As a student I find myself with many choices I can make, both good and poor. However, with the way I was raised it is much easier to make the right choice even if it means going against the crowd and maybe even facing some ridicule from my peers for not doing the popular thing. A third force are my friends. By choosing friends with similar interests, morals, and beliefs as my own, it can be very encouraging to do the right thing because I know that they will be by my side no matter what. Also, being a leader within my churches youth group and both Vice-President and President of International Thespian Society, has pushed and challenged me to do things that are out of my comfort zone that has made me a better leader, student, and all around person. Being a member of the media team at my church, and taking up woodworking as a hobby has taught me to take more pride in my work, and pay more attention to detail because people really do appreciate what we do even though we often go unnoticed. Furthermore, being involved in extracurricular activities such as marching band and the performing arts, has shown me value of teamwork. Quite literally, the largest and probably most recent force, was getting hit by several hundred pounds of stage weights. Through this accident, I learned to slow down and not take life for granted and to be more careful with my work. Next, during my freshman year, my father sustained a heart attack and underwent quadruple bypass heart surgery. This force taught not only me, but my whole family the importance of sticking together and always support one another. As much as I don't like to admit it, I've made many mistakes in my life, but looking back, I'm glad I did. I've taught myself many life lessons from those mistakes that have helped shape and ,old me into the person I am today. Finally, the largest and most important force that has shaped me is my faith. It has truly help me grow into the person I am today and i believe, will help me to continue growing into the person God wants me to be.
Andrew,
Your life story actually really surprised me. I didn't know a lot that was in here. I have the utmost respect for you and your family with the surgery and recovery involving your father. I cannot even imagine how difficult that must have been. It really does show you to live everyday like it's your last! Additionally, I think it's really cool how much you do within your church and the performing arts department. And you do not go unnoticed, at least not in my book. Finally, we both have mistakes in our forces, which I think it so true about any person on this earth. I love that you can accept your mistakes and realize they make you who you are.
